We all have a part to play. If we all do that which we are called to do, we can get our country back on track. Conversely, the reason we got into the mess we are in today is because too many good people thought we could trust those in charge to run the government. Without citizen involvement, we are doomed to end up, like so many societies down through history, with a totalitarian, communist or fascist form of government. Sadly, there are plenty of power hungry office holders who are willing to sacrifice everything for themselves and to steal our freedoms, fortunes, institutions and way of life. They are counting on the rest of us being asleep. If there is one lesson we can learn from history, it is that societies haven’t seemed to learn from history.
We all have different roles to play. Some can educate, some can donate, some can organize, some can mobilize and some can run for office. Running for office is not for everybody. My husband can tell you of sleepless nights where I grieved, agonized, or wept about public policy decisions being made when I was on the losing side. It can be very frustrating and many people can not handle this part of the job. For me, I have a resiliency that allows me to come back after what appears to be devastating attacks from the liberal media or blogs. The source of my strength comes from God, my Faith and family. For me, this is a calling and that is why I have the grace to run for office.
Why The Republican Party
The Republican Party supports the constitution, limited government and personal responsibility. It is not the core values of the Republican Party that have let us down, but some of the individuals who forgot to put those ideals ahead of their own political self-interest. People become disillusioned because they see people run as Republicans, yet they do not adhere to the platform of being pro-life and pro-taxpayer. We can change those people.
One problem is there has not been any discipline for those who say they are Republicans but vote against the Party platform and ideals. But in New York, Republican voters recently rebelled against a Republican nominee that was pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage. They refused to accept the dictates of Republican Party insiders. When the people refused to support the liberal Republican nominee, and chose instead a true conservative candidate, the Republican nominee was forced to resign and then showed her true allegiances by promptly endorsing the liberal Democrat who was running.
